Thanks for joining us tonight..

Talks of putting in an assisted living home in the friendly city hit a road block.

The columbus planning and zoning commission chose to table the topic of putting an assisted living home in the northaven woods community off of highway 45.

Right now regulations do not allow that type of facility to be built in the neighborhood.

Changes to those regulations have to be made before the board can vote on the matter.

Even after those changes, there'll be a petition for residents to decide if this is something they'd like to see happen or not.

Residents in the affected area will be notified before a decision is made.

The board anticipates discussing the topic in the near future.

Time is winding down in mississippi's senate special election runoff.

And it's crunch time for both camps..

But they're also aware of the statewide audience they'll have for a debate tomorrow night..

Courtney ann jackson checks in with the campaigns and analysts on debate prep.

National party leaders are still weighing in on mississippi senate runoff.

President trump again reinforcing his support of cindy hyde-smith and mike espy's campaign pushing a new endorsement from former vice president joe biden.

The campaigns both tell us the candidates are debate prepping today.

And analysts say there's a lot for the campaigns to consider.

"one of the most important things for a candidate to do in a debate is to survive.

You don't want to make the big mistake.

But you also want to try to find momentum.

You want to try to find ways to be endearing to the audience.

You want to find ways to prove to the audience this is why i believe in these particular things."

"this will be the first time tht many voters have a chance to hear from the candidates themselves on issues that are important to them."

But remember a holiday does fall between debate and election day.

And analysts say that can't be overlooked.

"it's very important because you have basically less than a week from when this debate ends till election day.

So, you've got to be really really good with this debate.

If you make a mistake, you have just a few days to try to recover from that and one of those days is thanksgiving when nobody's going to be paying attention and the day after that is when everybody goes shopping and nobody's going to be paying attention."

"to the extent that there's an answer that's confusing or conflicting or that causes some problems, there's not a whole lot of time to make that up.

And the thousands of people that watch the debate may not stick around for the cleanup."

Both analysts say the debate could serve an important role in helping voters who are still undecided or unsure about the candidates.

A man arrested for shoplifting is accused of using bogus bills to make bail..

Tupelo police say 25-year-old jacob shane coleman tried to post his bond using counterfeit 100 dollar bills.

He was arrested saturday for shoplifting.

Coleman has a previous criminal history of burglary.

He was on probation when the alleged shoplifting happened.

Coleman now faces a charge of false pretense.

The search continues for a vehicle involved in a fatal hit in run over the weekend.

It happened in lowndes county.

The mississippi highway patrol says the victim is 18-year old dewilliam zerrell binion.

He was struck saturday night on highway 373, north of noblin road in columbus.

Once troopers made it on scene, they found the teen, but not the vehicle that hit him.

They believe the car has possible damage to its front right side.

It could be simply something found on scene that would indicate that it was the right side of the vehicle.

It could be just the location of where the impact occurred, or it could be something that they found on the victim themselves, that could lead them to believe that.

If you have any information on this investigation call the mhp office at 662-323- 5314.
