Music Legend Elton John has been reflecting on his life and career in a wide-ranging interview to coincide with the release of his first and only autobiography, 'Me'.

Writing 'Me' ''So we started at the more frivolous side of things, even though they were quite heady, and I was in the swimming pool trying to kill myself the day before Dodger Stadium.

But it was, you know, craziness.'' Performing ''Even when I was doing a lot of drugs, I still carried on playing music, making music, recording music, because it's been my touchstone of my whole life.

It's electric, I mean it never gets old.'' Memorable Moment ''I would have to say the John Lennon, without question, I mean there have been so many wonderful things that have happened to me on stage.

But him coming out on Thanksgiving 1975 at Madison Square Garden, when he hadn't appeared in New York since Shea Stadium with The Beatles, he had only appeared on stage at the Peace Concert in Toronto.

And he was so nervous he threw up.

And we were doing three songs together.

And he came out to probably the most touching ovation I've ever heard for anyone.'' Health Scare "I was straight into the London clinic, where I was in intensive care for two days and then in hospital for a further nine with an infection that was so strong they had to re-treat me.

I knew I was very ill, but I didn't know I was that near passing, and I was.

And all I could think about was, 'Please I want to see my boys.''' What's Next?

''I don't know what's next, if you read that book, my life has been an extraordinary passage of events.

And serendipity has played a huge part in that.

Played a part in me meeting Bernie, meeting David, having children.

And I don't know what's next and I don't want to know what's next.

I'm just ready for the next chapter.''
