Canada's Trudeau wins second term but loses majority

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has won a second term in Canada's national elections, losing his majority but delivering unexpectedly strong results despite having been weakened by a series of scandals that tarnished his image.

Mr Trudeau's Liberal party took most seats in parliament on Monday, giving it the best chance to form a government.

Still, falling short of a majority meant it would have to rely on an opposition party to stay in power.
