Freakfest takes place in downtown Madison this weekend.

It's 6:5 .... time for the morning sprint as we give you everything you need to know before you head out the door.

We start with breaking news out of california... where raging fires in northern and southern parts of the state are forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate.

The fires -- fueled by dry winds and high heat -- blanketed areas north of los angeles and in parts of sonoma wine country.

Firefighters are working to contain the blazes... while the state's largest utility is warning of another large- scale power shutdown this weekend today: mostly sunny and chilly.

High: 49 wind: w 5-10 mph tonight: mostly clear and not quite as cold.

Low: 31 wind: light s breaking overseas this morning... european union ambassadors are agreeing in principle for another extension of the 'brexit' deadline -- but haven't decided yet on how long that will be.

The united kingdom was scheduled to leave the european union on halloween ... but is asking for a three-month extension.

The 'brexit' has already been delayed several times this year.

Former congressman elijah cummings will be laid to rest today in baltimore.

He died last week at the age of 68 from health complications.

Former presidents clinton and obama will eulogize the maryland democrat.

Mourners gathered on capitol hill yesterday to pay their respects to cummings -- the first african-american lawmaker to lie in state at the u-s capitol.

Lawmakers are pausing the ongoing impeachment inquiry into president trump as they honor the late congressman cummings.

However-- some republicans are now openly condemning the inquiry and are introducing a resolution that calls on the house to hold a vote to start the inquiry.

Depositions will pick back up starting monday.

Breaking news into the channel 3 thousand alert center... the middleton- cross plains school district is responding to an incident where students were separated by race before taking math and literacy tests.

The district says a staff member brought students into the library based on race and ethnicity to work on exams last week.

The district's superintendent says the incident is quote ... 'wholly unacceptable' and 'intolerable' ... and does not represent the beliefs of the district.

The state journal reports the staff member has since been suspended.

October is dyslexia awareness month, and the condition's much more common than you might think.

In a classroom of 30 students, as many as six have dyslexia.

And that's why dozens of families will be out here at the capitol this afternoon.

They're organizing a rally, which starts at noon, to push for new legislation.

The bill in question--- a-b 110... would create a guidebook for parents and teachers to follow to help students manage their dyslexia.

Early on, you'll notice students with dyslexia have trouble memorizing the alphabet, hearing rhymes, and recognizing simple words.

There are still many misconceptions about the condition.

Madison's alcohol license review committee will take action before the end of the year... as a new study shows a correlation between the number of bars in downtown madison and the volume of emergency calls in those areas.

Three more people are facing charges in a large-scale counterfeit t- h-c vape operation in kenosha county.

The new arrests are all men... ages 19 to 23.

They're now among 8 people accused of helping the vape cartridge manufacturing ring.

The two brothers behind it -- jacob and tyler uffhines -- are accused of selling tens of thousands of the cartridges in wisconsin, illinois and minnesota.

Tomorrow... nearly 300 local law enforcement agencies will be participating in drug take back day around the state.

You're encouraged to get rid of your unwanted and unused medications at drug take back and drug disposal locations.

And for the first time ever ... the d-e-a will also be accepting vaping devices and cartridges.

The murder trial of julian collazo in rock county will start fresh in december... after jurors were unable to reach a verdict.

A court bailiff described the jury's deliberation as being hostile and toxic... and even said that verbal threats were made between jurors.

Collazo was facing first- degree intentional homicide charges in the stabbing death of christina scaccia-lubeck.

It's now being considered a mistrial.

In beloit... there are still no arrests in response to wednesday night's shooting.

Police say 19- year-old enrique ramirez was shot multiple times by someone who knew him.

He is expected to survive.

Police say they're looking for one suspect... and ask anyone with video cameras in the area of vine and 10th streets to check and see if any footage could help their investigation.

Waunakee police are offering a cash reward this morning... they're looking for informaton about a burglary at a local pharmacy.

Money and prescripton drugs were stolen from 'hometown pharmacy' between 11:30 and midnight tuesday night.

If you need prescription drugs... the store suggests going to nearby pharmacies until their drugs are restocked.

Investigators in madison are trying to find the person responsible for the fire at the mallards stadium last week... the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives is now offering a 5-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest in the arson investigation.

Investigators say someone set the gift shop on fire last thursday night... causing significant damage.

The bucks are off to a good start to their new season... winning their season opener on the road against the houston rockets in front of a national audience last night.

The 'greek freak' put up a 'triple double'... scoring 30 points ... grabbing 13 rebounds... and making 11 assists.

They'll have their home opener in milwaukee tomorrow against miami.
