News now... jurors in erik sackett's homicide trial will hear closing arguments in just a few hours.

Afterward ... they'll start deliberating.

Sackett is accused of killing erin somvilai last summer.

Closing arguments are scheduled to begin this morning at around eight-45.

As usual ... we'll be carrying a livestream of the proceedings on news eight thousand dot com.'

((ad lib weather)) marijuana is not a reason to serve a prison sentence.

Marijuana is not a reason to lose out on a job or a place to live.

It is not a reason to lose out an opportunity to go to school or lose financial aid.

Lieutenant governor mandela barnes is among wisconsin democrats calling for the de- criminalization of possessing small amounts of marijuana.

Their newly introduced measure is unlikely to get anywhere in madison.

Republicans in control of the state legislature are against de- criminalization.

You may want to keep something extra next to the bowl of candy you plan on handing out tonight.

Once again... many local community and school groups plan on doing door- to- door donation drives during trick- or- treat hours.

Instead of asking for treats ... they'll be asking for donations for local food pantries.

Let's take a look at those trick or treating' hours for some of the communities in our area.

Downtown viroqua and west salem businesses will be handing out candy from three until five this afternoon ... with regular trick- or- treating to follow.

Clear to partly cloudy tonight and cold with lows in the low-mid 20s.

Cloudy and chilly friday with a chance of light snow showers or mix.
