Aquinas finishes one game shy of WIAA state title

The Aquinas volleyball team's season ends one game shy of a WIAA state championship falling to Howards Grove in straight sets in Green Bay Saturday.

Big day for college football.

But there's a local school playing for a state volleyball championship so they get to lead the show.

Aquinas is taking on howards grove for the division three crown.

-------------------- the first set was close all the way....kayla bahr is there for the kill....as the first set went back and fourth.

--------------------- then lexi donarski gets in on the action....she denys the tigers with a great block.

---------------------- aquinas would lose the first set by just three....and then howards grove pulled away from there.

--------------------- karissa kaminski had twelve kills on the afternoon....and the tigers take set two by 11.

---------------------- the tigers would not be denied on the third set....they win 25-15 to sweep the match.... the bluegolds finish the year one match shy of a state title....but it doesn't take anything away from a memorable season.

"i will put our energy up against everybody.

I don't think you are going to find a team that is as competitive or as in shape as these kids are.

I don't think for us it was a matter of energy.

I think we spent a little too much time over thinking it and trying to compensate.

That caused us to do some things that we normally wouldn't do on the floor."
