for the second straight year.
While the Astros star won the AL Cy Young for the first time since 2011.
DeGrom is the 11th pitcher to win
the award in consecutive seasons.
He received 29 first-place votes, the same
number received in last year's voting.
DeGrom had just 11 wins, but he finished 7-1 with
a 1.44 ERA after the All-Star break.
Verlander received 17 first-place votes, just four
more than his Houston teammate, Gerrit Cole.
It marks the first time in history that teammates have finished first and second in the AL Cy Young voting.
Verlander led MLB with 21 wins, while his 2.58 ERA and 300 strikeouts were second in the league behind Cole
