President Donald Trump signed a bill supporting human rights in Hong Kong.
According to Business Insider, the decision angered President Xi Jinping and stalled trade deal efforts.
A source close to Trump’s negotiating team said China may not sign a “phase-one” deal until the end of the year.
Additionally, they said Trump would likely delay any possible tariffs as a goodwill gesture.
The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act considers sanctions against people involved in human right abuses.
