Governor Larry Hogan announced Tuesday highlights of his Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) budget.

WMAR 2 NEWS' DONHARRISON TALKED TO THEGOVERNOR TODAY.Governor Larry Hogan stated atthe beginning of the sessionthe theme of this year will beaccountability..... Sot:...and we are following throughon that theme here thismorning by submitting anaccountability budget...Track: A budget that is justshy of 48 billion dollars anda large chunk of that budgetgoes to education.

Sot: Thisbudget invest a record 7.3billion dollars into K through12 education which again isabove and beyond the educationspending formulas proposed bythe legislature....Track:..and speaking to thegovernor's desire flawmakers to be accountablefor their spending, headdressed the KirwanCommission's 40 to 60 billiondollar education proposal.Sot: The State should not andcan not, however, simpincrease 33 billion in newspending that we don't havewithout any plan wha━s━everabout where the funding willnot come from.

Even though amult━billion dollar educationproposal, with no namedfunding source was put on thetable by democrats, SenatePresident Bill Fergusonreiterated earlier this weekhis thoughts on raising taxes.Sot: I think we are looking ata number of different optionon the table.

What I think isfair to say is that we are notgoing to see increases in theproperty tax rate, the salestax rate or the income taxrate.

Track: Governor Hogansaid the crime problemBaltimore City should be ournumber one focus for thisbudget and leaders and judgesin Baltimore City need to beresponsible to hold criminalsaccountable for their role inthe violence in Baltimore.Sot: We've invested onebillion dollars in publisafety in Baltimore City in 5years.

Obviously our focus nowis to try to get thelegislature to support us ongetting tough on these violentcriminals.
