Carnival festivities kicked off in Bolivia on Sunday (January 19) with the resurrection of Pepino the Cucumber from the dead, who represents the spirit of the carnival.
Footage shows the clown-like figure of Pepino being paraded in a red casket through the streets of the capital La Paz as dozens of dancers ask for him to come back to life.
The annual ritual marks the beginning of carnival season in Bolivia.
