High school soccer playoffs continued on Thursday

And we're going to kick it off in division two... with number 8 seed las plumas at corning high school... and there's a reason the cardinals are the number one seed... they scored a quick two goals in the first half... courtesy of julian guzman... here's his second one... he went two for two in the first... las plumas trying to get on the board now... but the cardinals defense... was not going to let that happen... they will seal the first with a gonzalo chavez goal... and eventually win the game 3 to 1... they will host the winner of the orland and gridley game.

The corning girls team was also hosting a playoff game..

This one against seven seed sutter... they were also quick on the board..

That was her second in the half... and they kept pounding.

The cardinals won 2 to 0 they will host number three seed west valley next week.

The eagles just came off a 1 to 0 win over orland earlier today.

Corning wasnt the only school to host a double header--- so did university prep... we're going to stay with the girls... they are the top seed and they faced las plumas... we didn't have to wait long for the first score.

Ryan ampi with just the keeper to beat makes it 1-nil in the 3rd minute of the game.

Her 19th goal this season... a few minutes later, meredith pinkston tries her luck from distance but not enough juice... later in the half, isabel lendman with a nice cut in, beats her defender but can't get the finishing touch on it... the sophmore gets another chance a minute later but her shot gets cleared off the line.

So close but u-prep dominates in the second half winning 6- nil... now to the boys... they hosted live oak..

Lions go for goal but cory smith keeps it scoreless... panthers on the attack a minute later.

Ryan cruise has space and fires on target but the keeper saves it for a corner... and on that set piece nikolai orloff gets a head on it but no good we're still scoreless... and it stayed that way until added extra time but micah (sai- key) gives the panthers the go- ahead goal.

U- prep wins 1-nil... as for the rest of the boys teams in division two... number two anderson will host u-prep next week after their yreka win.

Gridley will take on corning next.

They beat orland 4 o 2.

Both games will be on tuesday at 3.
