Indian family left distraught as home remains flooded after three months

A distraught family in India has been unable to reclaim their home after it was flooded three months ago, with seemingly no aid from local authorities.

Pushpa Devi, together with her seven other family members, were forced to leave their home in Jushpur, Chhattisgarh, when a neighbour flooded a channel through an adjacent field, submerging Devi's home.

Footage from the site, filmed on February 20, shows Devi wading through her old home.

Devi added that all their belongings kept in her house were going to waste and that she was unable to collect them as she is scared if the house were to collapse.

Her home is only 200 metres from the district administration office, but despite repeated entreaties, Devi has not been able to obtain any official aid in reclaiming her home.

She described her situation as desperate to the point that she and her family would have to perform "Jal Samadhi", or water burial.
