Escaped Murderer Recaptured

A murderer is back behind bars this morning.

You're taking a look at daniel miner just seconds after he was put in handcuffs.

Authorities say he was quote "distraught" -- after a 3-hour standoff.

Miner escaped a work release center on saturday before authorities found him at a home in falkville.

That's just south of hartselle in morgan county he told authorities he wouldn't leave the house -- and even threatened he had a bomb.

That's when the madison county bomb squad was called in.

After trying to talk him down -- authorities used a different tactic to get him out.

Rodneya -- how exactly did authorities get him out of the home?

Law enforcement on scene used tear gas to force daniel miner out of the home after multiple attempts to get him out failed.

Take another look at this video -- you can see the heavy police presence around the home on pitts road in falkville.

A warrant that u.s. marshal's were following up on, led investigators to this home..

And minor was found inside.

Law enforcement used bullhorns to convince him to come out with his hands up....but he would not cooperate.

Then, they shot tear gas into the house, making it difficult for miner to breathe and see.... "after trying to communicate for several hours, we were able to make entry by popping tear gas, at that point after several rounds, the individual did come out and is taken into custody" once miner came out of the home -- medics checked him out and he was taken to jail this morning he remains here in the morgan county jail but at some point he will be turned over to the alabama department of corrections.
