Alba, Indonesia's only known albino orangutan, was released into the jungle after being held captive in Central Kalimantan.

The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation rescued Alba in April 2017, and released her into the wild in December 2018 after a year spent at a rehabilitation center.

Alba's progress was observed by the Biodiversity Conservation team at Indonesia's Environment and Forestry Ministry on Friday (February 28).

The Director of Biodiversity Conservation at Indonesia's Environment and Forestry Ministry, Indra Exploitasia, observed that Alba can build her own nest and source food without human intervention.
