Terre Haute Native retiring from baseball

Welcome welcome back.... big baseball news in the area...one of the best to ever come out of terre haute is calling it a career... aj reed has informed sports 10 that he's retiring.... in 2014 houston took aj 42nd overall in the mlb draft, making him the second highest terre haute native ever selected behind josh phegely.... in 2015 he was named the minor league player of the year.....reed made his mlb debut in june of 2016.... the lefty slugger spent part of four years in the big's.

With the astros and white sox...he played in 62 mlb games, he had four homers and 12 rbi... reed has done things no one from terre haute has ever accomlished.... he's the first indiana mister baseball winner from terre haute south....he's the first braves baseball player to ever make it to the mlb... in 2014 as a junior at kentucky he became the first player in sec history to lead the conference in homers and rbi's.

That same year he also was the very first to lead the sec in homers and pitching victories.

Reed is the only baseball player ever from indiana to be named the sec baseball player of the year and golden spikes award winner, which goes annually to the top player in college baseball.... the 26-year old said it was just time and he's ready to spend more
