Vigo County Public Library kicks off its 'Big Read' event

In education news tonight.... downtown terre haute is spreading a love of reading in kids..

Tonight's "first friday" centered around reading..

We stopped by the vigo county library for it's celebration.

Tonight they kicked off their "big read event" this year-- the book is the three-act play..

"our town" by thornton wilder.

Families were able to see it acted out by local actors and experts!

Program organizers say the "big read" is about more than just reading..

"the book is really just the starting point.

So being able to look at themes of our town it helps us to talk about other more timely issues and topics that are just worthy of discussion."

The library has 3-thousand the library discussion."

The library has 3-thousand copies of the book spread throughout the wabash valley..

400 have been given out this week alone!
