School closings also end Indiana’s spring sports

Hope you all had a chance to get outside and enjoy this beautiful day, which, unfortunately came with some bad news.

As we told you earlier in the show, the ihsaa officially canceling the 2020 spring sports season.

It was an announcement that felt inevitable at this point, but for seniors like leo softball player ashley miller, it still hurts nonetheless.

We had a chance to catch up with ashley and several of the other affected players and coaches from around the area earlier this evening."ashley miller: "i had a pretty good understanding that we probably would get canceled, but i didn't really want to believe it.

I was still holding out hope.

Just sad, when i found out.

We won't be getting a senior season, senior night, senior banners.

And most importantly, the shot at a state championship, so that's why i was sad for us seniors, and the rest of our teammates as well."aaliyah andrews: "my heart really goes out to the girls who don't get to play college softball, and didn't get the opportunity.

They've had their last time to step on the field and lace up their cleats, and it really sucks, and i really feel bad for a lot of them."carter mathison: "yeah i just feel really sorry for them, having to end on that note.

Thankfully we had very few seniors on our team this year, which is good, but this just sucks for them."

Augie difederico: "yesterday was supposed to be our first game, and it was a big shock that we weren't going out there.

Like, i should have been out there yesterday.

It's going to be really hard."jason garrett: "on one hand, you're heartbroken for those who are suffering from the illness, and obviously for all of us, there is uncertianty with where this will all go.

On the other hand, you're going to miss the excitement and the opportunities that athletics, and in this case, a baseball season offers to our young men and to our families."petar hood: "the ihsaa said in its statement it is looking forward to a full complement of sports retuning in the fall.
