### the coronavirus pandemic has forced many schools across the country to shut down--- impacting a lot of important school events.

Shasta college made the announcement friday--- cancelling or postponing all events... through the end of the semester.

A statement from the college says it "recognizes how important major events such as commencent and award ceremonies are for everyone in the community" administrators are working on alternative plans for these important events.

Administrators say the safety and health of students, staff, and community is their priority sot(joshua whitehead, lives in redding): "i don't think it is right, but i think it's more necessary, if anything."

Sot: (kayla johnson,lives in redding): "i feel bad for everyone that can't graduate right now, but i do feel that it's very necessary to take the best health precautions.

Shasta college says this is all to help reduce exposure and comply with the governor's stay- at-home order.

The college says students will be completing courses online through the end of the semester.
