'Dystopian, apocalyptic' - NY nurses protest lack of protective equipment

Outside of the Harlem Hospital in New York, nurses protested the lack of protective equipment available to them as they scramble to save as many lives as possible during the coronavirus crisis.

Wyckoff Hospital emergency room nurse Jillian Primiano described her experience as "Dystopian, apocalyptic.

I am seeing people die every single day." Nurses, chanting "PPE (personal protective equipment) everyday," demanded greater access to N95s masks, gowns, gloves, and glasses to slow the spread of the disease.

"We see that the colleagues who have already died, those were absolutely preventable deaths," said Tre Kwon, an ICU nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital, who came to protest with the Harlem Hospital nurses in solidarity.

"We're here because we're enraged that the state and the hospital systems are not responding rapidly enough."
