He state health department reported 257 new coronavirus cases and 9 new deaths Thursday morning.

As of the noon hour, here's the latest look at coronavirus cases locally.

You can see tippah county has the most cases here at 41 with lee county right behind.

The other two counties locally that are hotspots for the coronavirus are oktibbeha county with 35 cases and lafayette county with 26 cases.

These numbers and the other numbes provided by the mississippi state department of health are through six p-m last night.

As for alabama, marion and pickens counties locally are tops in the coronavirus count.

There's no real change in who's leading that county when you take a look at the statewide numbers.

Hinds county - the jackson area -- is in the lead with more than 200 cases.

Desoto county - the memphis suburbs - is second with 150.

The third highest count can be found on the mississippi gulf coast in jackson county with 122 cases.

Jackson county is where pascagoula and ingalls shipbuilding are located.

Meanwhile, the number of people in mississippi who died from the coronavirus jumped by nine.

One thing that's notable is the number of deaths in tippah county.

It's up to six people, and that's the highest of any county in the magnolia state.

Lauderdale and jackson counties each has five deaths.

Leflore and pearl river each has four.
