Gov. Kate Brown said restaurants must follow strict health guidelines.

So how challenging is it going to be for restraunts to abide by these guidlines.

Enfocre these new rules for their customers?

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy talked with a eugene pizza resturant owner about what changes he will have to make.

I talked to mark fischer... the owner of sy's new york pizza in eugene.

He says he is excited his business can re-open for dine in--but things wont go back to normal-- there will be a new normal for getting the new york pizza experience.

Dough is still flying at sy's new york pizza on alder street.

"pizza, it's kind of designed for take out and delivery anyways."

Mark fischer is just one of many small buisness owners in western oregon.... powering through this pandemic.

"the daytime buisness is still pretty slow but night time buisness with delivery's and and pick up orders has come back almost to normal."

Brown baked up optmisim thursday... announcing counties can apply to reopen starting friday.

"i don't think it'll be that much different than what we are dealing with right now."

Brown says in phase one... buisnesses must have face masks... social distancing... and occupancy limts of 25... but the small size of sy's will make it hard to social distance.

"my stools inside are close together so imight be able to have three or four stools inside, we're probably put more tables outside spaced at least six feet apart."

"we kind of marked the floor, stand behind this line if you're waiting.

If someone does come in i'll tell them to hang back until i have finished with this person.

" fischer says though buisness has been better then he expected...he ready for what ever the new normal may look like.

"being able to kind of have things a little more stable.

I've have had cut some hours and had to let other people go so hopefully be able to those people back."

The road may be challenging ahead... but phase one is just one slice of the pie to oregon being open.

Sy's pizza has been around for over 40 years and fischer says its one of the staple resturants for the university of oregon.

He says he is thankful and grateful for the community's support to stay in buisness during these tough times.
