A new local business is hoping to make help with the demand on face masks during the coronavirus pandemic.

Business is hoping to help with the demand on face masks during this pandemic.

Action news now reporter 'vanessa romo' is live in chico -- vanessa, what does this company have to offer?

These are the face masks that this new company will offer... each mask has 3 non woven layers, a nose clips and of course ear loops.

Salus supply is based in chico and says it can produce up to 100-thousand masks a day... it says it's already distributing the non-medical, source control masks to local businesses and other organizations.

The president of salus supply says he opened up because he noticed the demand and he says he plans to stay even if the demand decreases.

I became more and more convinced that there's a need for a local supply chain of masks.

We have very little manufacturing of masks and very little material for these masks and so you have to get everything from either taiwan, india, china or different places, because we just don't have it here according to salus supply--- the face masks are authorized by the f-d-a under an "emergency use authorization" for use to control the substances coming out of ones mouth or nose... or coming in.

It can by used by the public and health care professionals.

The product is authorized only during these emergency circumstances, however it has not been cleared or approved by the fda.
