Workers at the Oktibbeha County Humane Society can continue to save lives after the society received a coronavirus grant.

Pet finder foundation awarded the oktibbeha county humane society a coronavirus operation grant.

The society says this grant will help workers to save lives.

The society said the grant will help workers test and vaccinate 150 animals.

Martha thomas who's the community relations director said the grant is one thousand dollars.

She said the shelter had limited operations for over 10 weeks during the pandemic..

So animals stayed in their care for longer than normal.

Thomas said workers will be able to conduct 100 heart worm tests and 25 vaccinations each for dogs and cats.

This week, the society put the money to use when a stray dog came to their shelter.

The dogs name is gigi.

Workers tested gigi for heartworms and gave her distemper vaccination with the grant funds.
