American Nakamura grabbed an opening game win and then held on for three straight draws with Norwegian world champ Carlsen to equal the score at 1-1.

In the other semi-final, Daniil Dubov downed Ding Liren to clinch a 2-0 overall win and advance to the finals of the online chess tournament where he awaits the winner of the Nakamura/Carlsen rubber.
