More Than 100 People Came Out to Protest the Killing of George Floyd

Was killed by a minneapolis police officer.

People are taking part in protests across the country because george floyd is a black man who was initially arrested after using a counterfeit 20- dollar bill..

When a white officer laid him on the ground and knelt on floyd's neck for more than 8 minutes... ultimately killing him.

Waay-31s alexis scott is live after folks held a peaceful protest in downtown huntsville... alexis what was it like?

Here at the madison county courthouse i could see more than 100 people bring signs... wear masks to avoid the spread of coronavirus... and speak out on police brutality and chanting the last phrase george floyd said... i cant breathe.

Organizers told me they wanted to hold a peaceful protest in downtown huntsville.

They marched around the entire courthouse chanting different things like black lives matter... and no justice...no peace.

There were cops present in case anything went left... but everything was indeed in order.

To participate... organizers encouraged the use of n-95 and cloth masks so people could speak loudly without spreading germs... and absolutely no weapons.

There were people of all ages and all races... all together as one.

I spoke with one mother who brought her family out to teach them about something historic that's going on across several states.

"this could be one of our kids and i need them to understand that.

We don't live in a bubble... this could be you at any moment.

So i wanted them to take hands-on participation in this," as people held hands hands and elbows together...ther e were also several people who drove by in their cars... honking to show their support.

Several people told me they were thankful the city of huntsville allowed them to hold something so intimate and they say they're looking forward for more ways to show support.

I was also told here in in the city there will be absolutely no rioting or burning of anything.
