Vigo County Clerk said this election looked pretty different than in years past and he said it could be a new normal.

For vigo county races.

We have "several contested races" to get to tonight.

News 10's sarah lehman is in our newsroom.... with an update on tonight... and the county commissioner races.

I was at the courthouse just a little bit ago when election officials wrapped up the unofficial count..

I'll have the latest commissioner races in just a moment..

But i want to walk you through the counting process this year... 11 thousand people voted absentee.

That means they mailed their ballot in by mail.

We talked with vigo county clerk brad newman.

He says 15 groups of two people each were counting absentee ballots.

The absentee ballots were the biggest concern when it came to getting all of the numbers in tonight.

But -- he says everything got done pretty quickly.

Now let's get into those races.

Brad anderson and judy anderson left their respective commissioner seats up for grabs this year.

We start with vigo county commissioner district 2.

Democrats brian dehart and pat goodwin were vying to face republican chris switzer in the fall.

Goodwin led with 63-percent..

And in vigo county commissioner district 3.... steve "top guns" ellis and terre haute fire chief jeff fisher were on the democratic ticket.

Fisher led with 69-percent of the vote.

The only republican who filed is mike morris.

We have numbers for all of the races in each county over on our website.

W-t-h-i-t-v dot com.

Reporting live at the vigo county court house i'm sarah lehman news 10.

Back to you.

Now we move to the vigo
