Ram Temple trust head, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, has tested positive for Covid-19. Das is the chief of Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust. 80-year-old Das is currently in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken detailed information on the health condition of Das. He has spoken to Mathura DM and Dr Trehan of Medanta hospital. Adityanath has also requested for immediate medical attention to Das at the facility. Das had recently shared dais with PM Modi and other VIPs at Ram Temple's groundbreaking ceremony. He was among the people on the stage at the ceremony in Ayodhya on August 5. Other VIPs included CM Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. PM Modi had participated in bhoomi pujan and laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple. The construction of Ram Temple, which is being overseen by Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, has begun nine months after the Supreme Court verdict.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled faceless tax scrutiny and appeal and urged people to pay their taxes and contribute to nation building. Launching the platform 'Transparent Taxation – Honoring the Honest', PM Modi said faceless appeals will begin across the country from September 25. Asking people to pay taxes due to them, Modi said while it is the responsibility of tax officers to deal with taxpayers with dignity, people should also consider paying taxes as their responsibility. PM Modi said that his government has always laid emphasis on minimum government and maximum governance and added that such measures are paying off. He said that policies now need to be people centric and public friendly. PM Modi added that India's taxpayers will now be able to experience fairness and fearlessness with regard to taxation and said that this is New India's new governance model. India is set to celebrate nation's 74th Independence Day on August 15. A full dress rehearsal of Independence Day was held at Delhi's Red Fort amid Covid pandemic. Security has been tightened in and around Red fort ahead of the event. Army, Navy, Air Force and security force personnel participated in the rehearsal on Thursday. Wearing of masks, social distancing and hand sanitisation were thoroughly followed at the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the Tricolour flag at Red Fort to mark the Independence Day. The Prime Minister will also address the nation on August 15. It will be PM Modi's second Independence Day speech of second consecutive term in office. Curtailed Independence Day celebrations have been planned due to the Covid situation. Security measures have also been intensified across the Capital. Police were seen checking vehicles in several parts of the city. Additional cops have been deployed to maintain law and order situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at launch of 'Transparent Taxation - Honoring the Honest' platform stated that the tax scrutiny has dropped to 0.26% of all returns since 2012-13. "In 2012-13, 0.94% of all tax returns were scrutinised. In 2018-19, this figure came down to 0.26%. This means, case scrutiny has reduced about four times," PM Narendra Modi. "In the past 6 years, India has witnessed the evolution of a new governance model in tax administration. We have decreased - complexity, taxes, litigation, and increased - transparency, tax compliance, and trust on the taxpayer," PM Modi added.

This will provide high speed broadband connections in the Union Territory at par with services in the mainland. PM Modi said that the project will give a boost to digital services like tele-education, tele-health, e-governance services and tourism on the islands. PM Modi also said that this optical fibre cable project, connecting Andaman and Nicobar with the rest of the country is a symbol of our commitment towards ease of living. PM Modi added that tourists will get huge benefits from the optical fibre facility and thousands of families in the Union Territory will be able access education, banking, shopping or tele-medicine online and said that this in turn will open up more employment opportunities for people of the region. 'The Indian Ocean has been the centre of India's trade and strategic prowess for thousands of years. Now that India is following the new policy and practice of trade and cooperation in Indo-Pacific, the importance of our islands including Andaman and Nicobar has increased further,' said PM Modi.
