Chapter of the BLM movement filed a lawsuit accusing federal law enforcement of violating the constitutional rights of protesters.

The lawsuit alleges that the officers attacked protesters with excessive force and without warning, deploying tear gas and rubber bullets.

The move follows the forceful clearing of demonstrators in Lafayette Square to allow President Donald Trump to take photos at a church.

The lawsuit is one of the first cases seeking to hold city, state and federal law enforcement responsible for alleged misconduct.

The plaintiffs are represented by the ACLU of D.C.

And the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
