we protest now what
protest across the country what now

Protests are happening across the nation--even right here in of people in lafayette attended sunda's demonstration.

The protest spearheaded by 5 local organizations all coming together to stand in solidary with family and vistims of police brutality... but what happens after the protest..news 1's leigha mcneil spoke with some protest organizers who say even half of the battle marja"i think i's all about getting together i's all about having voices heard in unison" nats the chants at sundays protest are still echoing through marja broussard, head nats as state vice presiden of the naacp district 3, says shes been advocating to being change and awareness to issues in the black communty marja"will we see what the problems are we can work with those problems we can help we can be proactive we can come up with solutions and we can present that to the lawmakers and say hey we worked on this and we think this and that what do you think so that we lost in bills can be written to affect that."

But broussard 3 believes change ca't happen unless people from all backgrounds come together... marja"we will have to come together we are not the majority we are the minority so we will need some help from other folks other and ethnic groups to push our agenda forward."ian"for many white people i think i's important that we listen or at the very least shut up whenever we hear something we do't like necessarily i's what we should be doing."

Ian giard, member of the ul students action and organizing committee, says as white man he is aware of his privlage and feels its would't be right if he did't speak up ian"i just think now is the time to make a difference now is the time to join a fight that has nothing to do with you politics controls the lives of so many people especially minorities so for us to simply say oh w're not interested or oh 'm not getting involved is to just allow it to continue."

And if you arent comftorbale attending a protest marja and ian say signing petitions...educating yourself...being an informed voter, are all ways you can still make your voice heard marja"i just think that we need to work together and have meetings talk about it have a dialogue agree to disagree and agree to disagree but still work together to make change."

Ian"we want to order true justice we do't want this white wash system to continuingly just allow the lynching of black men or women or children or anyone you know people say all lives matter and i understand why they say that because in my eyes all lives do matter but until we can say without a doubt black lives matter then we as a people as a system as a country respect and act like it then no lives matter none of us are free until we all are
