80 Percent of US Voters Say the Country Is 'Out of Control,' Survey Says With nationwide protests, a rising death toll from COVID-19 and high unemployment numbers, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll says that only 15 percent of voters believe things are under control.

The survey was conducted from late May through early June 2020.

It adds that four in five registered voters believe the country is in a state of flux.

57 percent wants the government to do more, while 38 percent think it's doing too much.

Despite the chaos, results from NBC/Wall Street Journal find that President Trump's approval rating is holding steady at 45 percent.

He still trails former Vice President Joe Biden, 49 percent to 42 percent, in additional poll findings.

As protests rage on, the survey adds that the majority is more concerned over actions of the police.

59 percent are concerned about what authorities will do, while 27 percent say violent rallies are more worrisome.

63 percent say they are still concerned they or someone they know may contract the coronavirus.

Only 11 percent believe the pandemic has been contained enough before the U.S. economy can fully open.
