A small protest was held outside the Lauderdale County Courthouse on Monday night after the commissioner said they won't yet vote on potentially moving a confederate monument.

Happening now - there's a small protest outside the lauderdale county courthouse after the commissioner said they won't vote on potentially moving a confederate monument at tonight's meeting.

Waay 31's breken terry joins us live now with what led up this!

Today - waay 31 asked mayor tommy battle about the confederate monument in front of the madison county courthouse in downtown huntsville.

The monument is technically on county property - so county commissioners are the ones with the power to remove it.

Battle said the city is open to working with them if they choose to relocate it.

We want to work in cohesion with them .

We want to work so we can do something that makes it good for the whole community.

We are willing to work with the county commission to help do that if they are so inclined.

At this point - we're not aware of any plans to move
