Around 300 protesters gathered in front of the Lane County Jail Wednesday night for a silent march, organized by Black Inidengous People of Color Liberation Collective.

Against police brutality and systemic racism in the eugene- springfield area.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy is live at the lane county jail where the this protest started... which was differnet than the last 12..

Connor why is that?

Chynna-- over 300 people gathered out here in silence.

Silence for those who lost their lives to police brutality and systemic racism.

Demonstratoes walked with candles and wore black as symbol of mourning.

Now take a look at these images from this evening.

Protesters marched silently from the lane county jail over the ferry street bridge and into alton baker park.

Speakers told the crowd they choose to end at alton baker park as a way to mourn the loss of a predominantly black neighborhood.

They say back in the 1940's the city of eugene evicted african americans that were living on what is now alton baker park.

Chynna-- today's protest was organzied by black indigenous people of color.

Tomorrow at 6, another protest will be held by black unity at the valley river center.
