This shocking footage shows the moment an angry mob from a street party chased police officers in Brixton - pelting them with glass bottles.Police officers can be seen running away from an angry mob armed with bottles after they broke up a street party last night [June 24].The video clips were filmed by a resident on the street who witnessed people chasing after the police and throwing bottles at them, injuring multiple officers.Young men can be seem pelting the retreating police vans with weapons, and smashing glass can be heard echoing around the street.At least 15 officers were injured in the attack.The resident said: "The environment started to get hostile and the police didn't do much at the beginning and then when they tried, it was already out of control."The police were there from the beginning of the party at around 8pm but they only got involved when a fight started in the middle of the crowd."All of the neighbours were watching from their windows and saying why didn't the police stop the party hours before?"There were moments of chaos in the neighbourhood - it looked like a war.Police said an investigation had been launched.Lambeth Police said: "Last night local residents called police complaining about a large gathering, noise, anti-social behaviour and violence in the area of Overton Road, Brixton, Lambeth."Officers responded to those concerns, and encouraged the crowd to leave the location but they did not engage with police."The event continued and more officers attended the scene and the group became hostile towards officers. "A Dispersal Zone was authorised encourage crowds to leave."At least 15 officers were injured, two required hospital treatment.
