World's largest hydroelectric dam in central China discharges floodwater after heavy rainfall

The famed Three Gorges Dam in central China, the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, was forced to discharge floodwater after heavy rainfall on June 29.

The spectacular video was filmed in the city of Yichang in Hubei Province and provided by local media with permission.

Since the water level exceeded the limit for around two metres and a new rainstorm is coming on July 1st, the Three Gorges Dam discharged water to give space for the upcoming floods.

It was the first time for the dam to discharge this year, reports said.
