Police fire tear gas at demonstrators in Sudan

Protesters in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum were subject to rounds of tear gas as police retaliated against the crowd today (June 30).

Footage captured by Sinan Osman shows a large crowd at the Airport Road and Jirief Turn intersection approaching a line of police officers.

The police, in turn, discharge multiple rounds of tear gas that disperse the crowd.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands protested all over Sudan to demand the transitioning government bring justice for those killed in last year's protests.

Last year's protests demanded a civilian-led government after the ousting of Omar al-Bashir by a coup d'état.
