Around 200 protesters brought pots, pans, and fireworks to make noises to show their solidarity.

News at 11" tonight-- protesters gathered outside of the lane county jail... demanding better conditions for inmates during the pandemic---while a hunger strike is going on*inside of the jail.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy is live in downtown eugene-- connor-- there were fireworks involved in this protest?

Chynna--things started off peaceful and then got a little tense.

You can hear drums and pots banging demanding inamtes be released.

Fireworks are also being set off in the street.

Protesters started in front of the lane county jail, baning pots and pans and shooting off fireworks.

They say they were standing in solidarity with an inmate who is on a 10 day hunger strike for conditions in the jail.

The protesters demanded more inamtes to be released and the return of inperson visitation and religous services.

Captain clint riley from the jail says they have been working everyday to make a safe enviroment.
