Several key federal officials are in the Klamath Basin to discuss the ongoing water issues faced by farmers.

They took time to visit and meet farmers in the basin and talk about water issues farmers are dealing with.

Newswatch 12's alicia rubin is live in klamath falls now.

Alicia, you were able to talk with rep.

Walden today -- what were his thoughts following todays discussions?

Rep.

Walden said he was feeling positive following today's meetings -- he says hes thankful to the department of interior secretary, david bernhardt for physically coming to visit the klamath basin.

Following the convoy, organized by farmers here in klamath falls on may 29th, it was announced that farmers in the basin would get the original allotment of water that was told to them.

Walden traveled on air force one with president trump and the department of interior secretary who is in klamath falls today.

On that trip, walden gave president trump a letter that highlighted the drought in the klamath basin and the water rights issues the people that live here are facing.

I did ask congressman walden about president trump's reaction to the letter he presented to him on air force one.

Walden said trump seemed interested in the issue and told him to talk to bernhardt -- whom you just heard from and who was here today -- so the common consensus from those involved today seems to be an optimistic one.
