Members of the transgender community and Chennai Corporation volunteers held 'Avoid Fear: Corona Awareness Rally' in Chennai's Tondiarpet Nethaji Nagar market area on July 11.

They held door-to-door campaign and spreading awareness.

Southern state Tamil Nadu is among the worst affected states with 1,30,261 confirmed COVID cases.

He turned 70 on September 17 and tweeted that what he wants on his birthday is for people to follow Covid precautions like wearing face masks and following social distancing. In a first, two women officers have been selected to join as 'Observers' in Indian Navy. The officers will join as 'Observers' (Airborne tacticians) in the helicopter stream of Navy. Sub Lieutenant Kumudini Tyagi and Sub Lieutenant Riti Singh were awarded 'Wings' on graduating as 'Observers'. They were awarded at a ceremony on September 21 at Kochi's INS Garuda. Tyagi and Singh are the first set of women airborne tacticians to operate from warships' deck. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam lauded both the officers. Earlier, entry of women was restricted to fixed wing aircraft that took off and landed ashore.

This e-bike takes 2.5 hours to charge and can run up to 27kms. While speaking to ANI, a student, Brathikan said, "This vehicle has an electric motor. It takes 2.5 hours to charge the vehicle and it can run up to 27kms. It consumes 0.6 units of electricity." The electric bike will cost around 16,000 Rs.

Covid: ‘50 lakh cases but almost 45 lakh recoveries’, says Health Secretary

With India recording the highest number of COVID-19 recoveries in the world, the government on Tuesday said that for the past four consecutive days the number of daily recovered cases surpassed the new infections reported per day. Addressing a press briefing, Union Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said India has the highest number of recovered cases in the world at 44,97,867. "India's COVID-19 cases share is 17.7 per cent of global infections, while those who have recuperated are 19.5 per cent of total recoveries in world. The daily recoveries from COVID-19 more than number of new infections reported per day since past four consecutive days," he said.
