Still raise money.
It's one of the biggest fundraisers for the newport fire department.
The department is planning a fish fry on friday july 31st from 4 -7 o'clock at the newport fireman's field on old state road.
The next day, there will be a chicken bbq starting at noon.
The co-chair of the event says this is a way to give the community something to do and still raise money.
"we've had a lot of people call us and ask us, and message us are we having the field days, are we not?
So this is kind of the official cancellation of the newport volunteer fireman field days."

The cost of both events is $10.
Proceeds benefit the newport fire company and will be used to offset expenses.
This year would've been the 47th year of the event.
