Greater Chennai Corporation organised a Community Intervention Program (COVID-19 IEC event) bike rally to aware people about wearing masks and following social distancing norms. The event was organised with Gold Heart Foundation.
GCC commissioner Prakash flagged off the bike rally from Ripon building.
More than 150 bikers participated in the awareness campaign.

Hundreds of auto rickshaw and taxi drivers came out on streets in Chennai on September 15. Members of Urimai Kural Drivers Association staged protest in the city demanding relief from the state government amid pandemic. Protestors demanded waiver of road tax and interests on EMIs for 5 months. One of the protestors said, "Drivers are forced to commit suicide because of the vehicles' EMI."

A male elephant from Mettupalayam forest range, Coimbatore was found dead last evening in jungles of Nilgiris. It was injured and Forest Department had made arrangements to tranquilise him for treatment but the elephant had moved into hilly terrain.The Forest Department said, "It is suspected that the elephant slipped into muddy area due to continuous rain in the area, got injured while slipping and could not get up due to its injured leg. It further slipped down for about 15 feet, in its attempt to get up and ultimately died."
'Seva Saptah' is being celebrated by BJP to mark PM Modi’s birthday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 70 on September 17, 2020. As a part of celebration, 70 NDMC workers were felicitated for their contribution to society. MoS Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy & Nityanand Rai felicitated the workers in Delhi. In Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, BJP workers offered a 70-kg laddoo at a temple. The 70-kg laddoo was later distributed among the locals in the area. 'Seva Saptah' or service week is also being observed from September 14 to 20. 'Seva Saptah' Abhiyan was launched by BJP National President JP Nadda on Monday. Party workers will take up social welfare activities as part of the campaign. Activities will include awareness drives on a host of issues.
