An elephant was found dead in Uttarakhand on July 27.

The elephant was hit by a train in Doiwala area of Dehradun.

Following the accident, the animal fell in a drain.

"Elephants keep crossing railway tracks.

Locals said they saw an elephant & its baby here last night.

Incident took place at 5:30 in the morning.

The elephant fell in the drain after being hit by a train.

The age of elephant was between 2 to 3 years," a forest official said.

In May, there were nationwide outrage over death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala.

The elephant died allegedly after eating pineapple stuffed with firecrackers.

Incident came to light on May 27 when forest officer Mohan Krishnan wrote a Facebook post after witnessing the death.

The elephant rushed to nearby Velliyar river after eating the fruit and died there.

The crackers were said to have exploded when the elephant chomped on the pineapple.

The killing of the 15-year-old elephant triggered countrywide protests.

Two people were also held in connection with the pregnant elephant's killing in Palakkad.
