In a first in India, Pune's BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, reported vertical transmission of Covid 19, from mother to foetus.
The woman had tested negative on the RT-PCR test for Covid-19 but she had evidence of a coronavirus infection due to her strong antibody response.
The baby tested positive for COVID by RT-PCR.
The infection happened when the baby was in the mother's womb.
Such a transmission of Covid-19 appears rare, but material on this is still scarce.
