Garbage collect avoids being hit by car thanks to dumpster truck

This is the heart-stopping moment a garbage collector survived being hit by a pickup truck - with help from a dumpster truck.

The workers were on their way to take the trash in Chonburi, eastern Thailand, when the accident happened.

CCTV footage shows the workers stopping at a corner of the road to collect the garbage when a speeding pickup truck rammed their vehicle.

One of the workers was nearly hit while sorting out the garbage with a colleague who was flung out of the truck and landed on the dumpster that acted as cushion and prevented him from getting injured.

Only the pickup driver was injured by the accident while both garbage collectors said they were lucky to dodge the crash.

The fallen worker, Jare Sudprasong, 35, said she would been hurt more severely if there was no dumpster there.

She said: "I only had some bruises from the accident because I landed on the dumpster.

I would have had more serious injuries if it was not there." She added that road users should be more careful to avoid endangering people who are working hard.

She said: "We have done everything under the safety procedure but the accident still happened so the road users should be more aware on the road." The police later went to investigate the scene and questioned the pickup driver after he finished his treatment at the hospital.
