A verdict was announced Thursday in the bench trial of Iyon Erves.

On (six out of (eight charges.

The 17-year-old shot a gun multiple times at the tippecanoe mall last december.

It took judge persin five minutes to give his verdict.

He found erves guilty of attempted murder, one count of attempted battery and one count of intimidation.

Erves was also found guilty for criminal recklessness, carrying a handgun without a license and a lesser charge of criminal mischief.

He was found (not guilty on his second charges of attempted battery (and intimidation.

Prosecutor patrick harrington says in today's world where active shooter situations in public occur, this case shows the importance of our local police forces.

"we could have had multiple deaths that night from this act, so we are very thankful for the verdict.

Once again it shows that in our community law enforcement works hard to keep us safe."

The two (not guilty charges were in connection to (one of the minors who testified on tuesday.

Erves is facing up to 40 years on just the attempted murder charge.

His sentencing is set for august 17-th.
