The Division III Presidents Council announced that it will not hold national championships for fall sports in the 2020-21 academic year.

Decided to cancel fall sports championships this year.

The council cited health and safety reasons amid the coronavirus pandemic - as well as - related administrative and financial challenges as the reason for the decision.

Pretty much all of our division three schools locally have already had their fall sports seasons postponed due to the pandemic...however this ruling means that no national championships will be held even if individual conferences hold fall sports in the spring.

There has been no decision regarding fall championships in divisions one or two as of yet - both must make their determinations by august 21st.

Hamilton college director of athletics jon hind said that as of last week - there were only ten division three conferences around the country still attempting to play and that it made it difficult to hold a national tournament.

So the hits keep on coming.

Jon hind: you play for conference seeding and to hopefully win a conference championshp...part of it is the joy of getting in, gettg into e ncatournament anhaving at elusive title.

I feel reaybad te that opportunity.

Hind said that the nescac has not decided about playing fall sports in the spring just yet but that the option is still on the table.
