Of people after a woman posted a video on social media alleging neglect and mistreatment.

Today, protestors say they are advocating and speaking up for a vulnerable population.

News channel 2's caitlin irla has our top story tonight.

No cg too short "it makes me feel good that everybody's fighting, but it makes me sad that we even have to do this."

.

None standup -- "loved ones of residents here at the grand here in home are out here protesting the neglect and mistreatment they say the residents are dealing with."

Ruth - essentially everybody decided they were going to come together and stand up against nursing home neglect and elder abuse.

Ruth wallace is the daughter of raejean wallace, the woman who posted this video on facebook, describing horrible living conditions inside the grand in rome.

The grand's vice president, bruce gendron, says these allegations... are not true.

"at times there may be someone who is dissatisfied with the care or service they receive but overall, we believe we provide a good service and a very high-quality care."

But -- those at this protest disagree... like tammy (zayla) szala whose father spent time here.

"he was neglected in here, the infection control was horrendous," she reported these conditions to the state.

"the state founded what i reported, infectious control issues and patients' rights why is this stuff still going on if the state is aware of it?"

Many say the problems start at the top... and trickle down to the workers who are responsible for providing care.

Shannon - "my father would wait hours to be taken to the bathroom, and he couldn't wait so he would be sitting there all night soaking wet."

Gendron says otherwise.

"we have a great staff there in rome, great nurses, rns lpns cpas they're our backbone of our organization they do a great job."

Wallace pointed out that it's not just the grand.

"it doesn't just happen here, it happens at several other grands, several other nursing homes."

"i've heard about many, many other nursing homes across the country, across the world."

She says there's a reason they are focusing on the grand.

"why are we cracking down on the grand?

It's consistent.

That being said great nurses and supervisors there&" "unfortunately, those nurses those aides can't work 27they'r" gendron says the health department is reviewing the allegations.

"we always strive to meet their needs, if someone is unhappy as she is,weo our best to turn that opinion around for her and do our best to make sure she's happy and comfortable."

He says hasn't received the written report from the health department yet.

As for the people out here... fighting for their loved ones... they will continue to speak up for the people who can't speak for themselves.
