Kemp and Navicent introduce new virtual care system

Governor Brian Kemp visited Navicent Health in Macon today to discuss a new virtual care delivery system.

Our top story tonight at five: governor brian kemp spent the afternoon in macon to announce a new virtual care delivery system that will allow covid-19 patients to receive treatment within their own homes.

It's a partnership between medical center navicent health and atrium health.

The new system will be available to patients who are deemed stable.

Their healthcare provider will give them a thermometer, a blood pressure gage, and a pulse oximeter.

The patient will then be able to track their own vital signs and symptoms at home, and they can report them to their doctor over video chat each day.

Kemp says this is key to helping with hospital bed capacity in middle and south georgia.

"the thing that really hits home and worries me the most, is hospital bed capacity, because we want to have a bed for every single georgian that needs it.

Not just for covid but for other health outcomes as well, and i think that's something that has gotten lost to a lot of people."
