Snug Hollow, A Kentucky Bed and Breakfast

Lyssa High heads out to Irvine Kentucky to the Snug Hollow bed and breakfast to check out all the B&B has to offer!

C1 3 everyone.

Weare here in the middle of the appalachian mountains with ms. barbara napierright here at snug hollow.

And we're also here with innkeeper and chiefoperations, ms. margaret wood.

Thank you so much for joining us, ladies.

Barbara- owner: thank you.

Margaret- inn keeper: thank you.

Lyssa- host: it is so gorgeous here.

We'rejust taking in the breeze and listening to the birds chirp.

It's absolutely sotranquil here.

It is so peaceful.

Barbara, how did you come upon this propertyand how did this business get started?

Barbara- owner: wow, you got a week?actually, 40 years ago, i wanted to be a hippie.

And so i wanted to move to thecountry.

Lyssa- host: yeah.

Barbara- owner: actually, i don't know how ithappened, but i got to do it.

And i bought this little cabin down here, 185year old log house.

My brother actually made that happen for me.

Moved my kidshere.

And then, i just kept thinking, "this has got to be shared withpeople.

I've got to show it off.

We've got to have this going on here."

Barbara- owner: so over the years i workedlike a dog and fate would have it that it just worked out.

I first built thisfarm house and had a lot of problems and had to kind of back off on that dreamfor a while.

But eventually some friends and people i didn't even know came tomy rescue and said, "let us help you finish this place."

And theydid.

Lyssa- host: that is fantastic.

Barbara- owner: they moved me in here 20years ago, and i said, "i am a bed and breakfast."

Lyssa- host: that is awesome.

Barbara- owner: i know.

Lyssa- host: and here you are 20 yearslater.

Barbara- owner: here i am.

Lyssa- host: how have you managed thattype of growth?

Barbara- owner: it's been a trip.

It's a bookcoming on.

But i have not done any of it by myself, let me just say.

It's ablessing.

I say, "oh, gosh, i really need a so-and-so."

Someoneknocks on the door and says, "you know, i have two so-and-sos.

Would youlike one?"

And it's been that way my whole life.

I've done it verycarefully.

I just feel a responsibility that it has to keep going.

And so, wework to make it go for everybody.

It has grown over the years for the worldequestrian games.

They said we would get rich, and i thought, "i canhandle that."

An i built that cabin out there and paid for it with thegames.

Lyssa- host: did you really?

Barbara- owner: and then, over the years, built another cabin.

And now, next week, hopefully margaret and i will tackleanother one.

Lyssa- host: absolutely.

And what a greatjob, margaret.

Margaret- inn keeper: i know.

Lyssa- host: what a wonderful, beautifulplace.

And we have so much more to talk about, but we're going to go ahead andgo to break.

But thank you so much.
