Smukler.

Eugene black lives matter group 'black unity' may be changing it's approach... with more civil disobedience and direct action... which we saw in eugene just a few nights ago.

They're in the middle of a six hour training session as we speak.

Kezi 9 news reporter connor mccarthy joins us live from alton baker park -- where its being held --- to break down today's events --- connor?

Jillian-- the group of 50 has been here all afternoon learning how to interact with police and how to be civily disobedient.

I am standing a bit back from the training just out of respect for participants but people are very eager to learn.

The group met at alton baker park at 1 this afternoon and we're told they'll be there for a few more hours.

They're being led by the civil liberties defense center as they learn about rights surrounding police interaction and civil disobedience.

They say they want to make sure they're dealing with conflict productively and legally.

We want to know what direct action steps we need to take if an altercaiton does happen, because there have been altercations in the past and we want to know how to move forward from that, and also move forward legally and know what to do in those situations.

She says black unity has no plans of stopping their protests anytime soon --- and they'll continue to take direct action... like when they blocked traffic on coburg road on friday night.

.

Jillian-- ibrahim says they don't plan stopping the protests and she says doesn't expect counter protesters to stopping either.

Which is why she says this training is important.
