This afternoon we're learning more about russellville city schools' plans for a trial run of online learning.

The district said every school will go virtual for four days after labor day because the department of public health is predicting a spike in cases then.

Waay31's breken terry spoke with the superintendent about the decision.

Grimes- we're really trying to be innovative and think outside the box.

We know were going to take some breaks to prevent the spread.

From september 8th through 11th - russellville city school students be taking classes online only.

The superintendent hopes it will prevent any outbreaks after the holiday weekend.

Grimes- we continue to hear about the spikes that have occured after memorial day and the 4th of july.

Stand up: grimes told me this plan helps prevent any spread of the virus after labor day - and it helps parents and students test out the districts virtual plan.

Grimes- we know that there's going to be holes in our remote learning and that's why we want to do that on a trial run for four days instead of 14 days.

Sports teams will still have games and practices that week.

And classes will be the only thing going virtual.

In russellville bt waay31 grimes told waay31 over the weekend a student did test positive for the virus and hasn't been at school.

The district told us it can't share any other details about that because of privacy concerns.
